“I Will Be a Mother” Chatbot Supports Pregnant Women in Accessing Free Medical Care

Childbirth in Ukraine often comes at an unofficial cost. “Charity contributions” or informal payments for childbirth are a common occurrence.

However, women can access all necessary medical services free of charge at hospitals operating under the Medical Guarantee Program, which is implemented through the National Health Service of Ukraine. Over 300 institutions across the country offer free medical assistance during childbirth, and nearly 700 provide support during pregnancy.

The “I’ll Be a Mother” chatbot, developed on open data, assists expectant parents in locating these facilities and learning about free medical care available during pregnancy and childbirth as well as verified medical information.

The service is available on Viber and Telegram.
